Shrooms for better health!
Let’s talk ‘shrooms y’all!
You know that I’m a huge believer in ancient Eastern nutrition after it changed my life 6 years ago. I don’t think people realize the amazing benefits that herbs, botanicals, and other phytonutrients play when we add them into our daily routine. This isn’t about weight loss. It’s about using nature to achieve optimal health.
Every morning I add an immune boosting mix of the following into our superfood smoothies.
Maitake mushrooms– is often said to boost immune function and, in turn, fight certain infections. Maitake is also touted as a natural remedy for diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. It’s even being researched as a potential cancer-fighter.
Reishi mushrooms– Known in Eastern Medicine for it’s ability to boost immune system, fight fatigue and depression, control blood sugar, and improve heart health. Some research has also shown anti-cancer properties.
Poria mushrooms– In traditional medicine, poria mushroom filaments have been used for loss of memory (amnesia), anxiety, restlessness, fatigue, tension, nervousness, dizziness, urination problems, fluid retention, sleep problems (insomnia), an enlarged spleen, stomach problems, diarrhea, tumors, and to control coughing.
Beta-Glucans from Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Beta-glucan is used in alternative medicine to help with allergies, asthma, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and also purported to strengthen the immune system and, in turn, fend off colds, flu, and even possibly cancer. Additionally, beta-glucan is said to increase the body’s defense against the harmful effects of stress.
You can purchase these individually, but as always, make sure that you are purchasing from companies that 3rd party test each raw ingredient for pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals and microbial activity. My go to brand does all of the above and comes in a convenient, tasteless powder that can easily be added to smoothies, juices, yogurt etc. Immune powder.
